My Journey to Horses…
I have always been passionate about horses from a young age! To be honest with you the “Saddle Club” started it all… When I was 14, I managed to convince my parents to let me have riding lessons. A year later I got myself a stable hand job, which is where my journey really started! I was a fearless 15 year old who was determined to take every opportunity. I found myself often riding young or “crazy” horses. To me, a misbehaving horse was still a horse and I just wanted to ride!

Fast forward to 2019, I’d tried a few different jobs, but kept coming back to horses. I got a job as a riding school instructor, where I worked with and continued the education of the horses. As I worked with different horses & ponies, I started to wonder why what I was doing worked, how I could be a better horsewoman and more effective in my training. This led me to study! I have a Diploma of Equitation Science, which I LOVED doing. This tuned up my training skills and helped me articulate my why & how. It was amazing to learn the science behind it all. I love getting to understand horses & how their brains work. I love working with problem horses and watching them go from anxious, aggressive or problematic to calm, willing & happy.
I have worked with numerous young horses & horses with behavioural issues and would say this is my sweet spot and what I love most. I love to work with owners and their horses to build the bond & help people communicate to their horse in a way that is understood. I love reestablishing the basics, foundation training & seeing horses thrive in this space. I love seeing the response on owners’ faces when behaviours they thought they “just had to put up with” are resolved and no longer an issue!
So there’s a bit about me & my journey. If you’d like to know more don’t hesitate to reach out!
Much love,
Lou
